Paying it Forward
(me when I had hair) |
When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, I was overwhelmed by the generosity and support of my thoughtful friends. It was so helpful to know that my friends were thinking of me. Friends showered me with gifts and flowers and messages and good deeds. When I started to feel better, I knew that I needed to do something to pay it forward. I came up with the idea for this website, as a place to find and share thoughtful gestures to help friends through difficult times. |
The vision for this site is to make it easier for people to show others that they care. This site aims to help friends strengthen their bonds and show support during trying and difficult times. Hopefully, it will evolve to include happy times too. With the perspective of surviving, I am comforted most by the idea that it is entirely possible that my most significant accomplishment in life will be being a good friend and enabling the success and happiness of those around me.

When I first had the idea for this website, I asked my friend Claire to help. When I was diagnosed with cancer Claire spent countless hours researching all of the things I would need. The best lotion, specialized pillows like a post surgery seat belt cushion to make driving more comfortable, a port cuff….all the things. She did so much research that the Facebook algorithm actually thought she was the one with cancer and she couldn’t login without getting advertisements for cancer patients. To do this site right, I knew I needed a researcher to help me find the best ideas, so I asked Claire to help. When not thinking about thoughtful gifts, Claire writes for Fodor's Travel.
